Pony Tails and Trails

Alright, little half pint, time to saddle up for the first time!  If you are a girl under 11 years old and a beginner, we recommend you start with this program.  Pony tails and Trails is about learning the basics without the focus on attaining riding levels.  Participants will concentrate on acclimating to the horse world, ground work, and being introduced to the joy of riding.  Campers will ride every morning but the program is less horse intensive.  So if you are just getting started with horses and want to learn more, Pony Tails and Trails is the program for you!

Note: Campers will be assigned a consistent horse as their friend for the week but, due to staggered ride schedules, there may be other campers also using that horse at a different time.  Also, as this camp is an introduction to horses, a riding level is not assigned upon completion.

• 7:00      Rise and Shine
• 7:45      Breakfast
• 8:15      Good Morning Lord
• 8:45      Barn Class: Parts of a saddle
• 9:45      Ground Work: Leading and Grooming a horse (with miniature horses).
• 10:45    Arena Class: Learning stop, start, steer.
• 11:15    Trail Ride
• Note: The riding portion of the program is generally 30 min arena/30 min trails, however, if more practice is needed for the comfort and safety of the riders they may spend more time in the arena.
